Vanessa Villeneuve, R.A., LEED Green Associate
Principal-in-Charge
Vanessa Villeneuve founded IN/EX Architecture in 2018 and is currently pending registration as a New York StateCertified Women-owned Business Enterprise. Vanessa has seventeen-years experience in the architectural industry,participating in well over 100 separate projects. She has extensive public funding experience, completing projects withNew York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), The New York State Housing Finance Agency (HFA), and hasalso worked with both the Rochester and Hornell Housing Authorities to improve and maintain their portfolios. Vanessais known for her thorough attention to detail from project inception through construction completion. She has beenrecognized by HCR for quality preparation of both application documents and construction documents. Vanessa isknown for providing exceptional customer service and for her ability to manage multiple project deadlines. She alsovolunteers her time as a Board Member of the Community Design Center of Rochester, pushing for the education andbetterment of our city.
Jason Simmons, R.A., LEED Green Associate
Partner
Jason is an accomplished architect with 19 years of experience in New York, Kansas and Missouri and projectexperience throughout New York State. Jason is a former partner at Glasow Simmons Architecture from 2010 to 2018where he has worked as the Project Architect on over forty projects throughout the City of Rochester. He is well-versedwith the City approvals processes and documentation required to secure funding. He holds a solid track record as adedicated and a hard-working employee and business owner.
Karsten Solberg, AIA, LEED BD+C
Senior Architect
Karsten is a design lead architect with experience spanning from local master planning to nationally recognized institutional buildings. Karsten has been a registered architect since 2009 and a LEED BD+C professional since 2010. Karsten worked for five years as a designer at internationally recognized firm in Boston before moving to Rochester. In Rochester, Karsten worked for eight years as the Project Architect for some of the most dynamic projects in the Rochester and Finger Lakes region. Karsten joined startup IN/EX Architecture in 2020 and continues to bring her design sensitivity and her attention to detail to every project. Karsten sits as co-chair of the Rochester Preservation Board, making her well-versed in city land board procedures and public interest decision-making.
Heather Landis
Project Manager
Heather Landis has served as a project manager for more than 15 years; she has project experience in both private andpublic sector. Her project management for the Air Force ranged from new MILCON project management to renovationprojects, requiring her to have a comprehensive knowledge of the codes, regulations, and approvals that governmilitary-type work. She had the opportunity to serve as Project Manager for some of the most transformative projects inthe Rochester and Western New York area over the past several years. Her management of projectshas required her to be a primary contact with the municipalities that required multi-level reviews and approvals - rangingfrom state and federal historical tax-credit projects to municipal approvals required to create new urban neighborhoods.
Robert Kocher
AIA
Bob has focused his career on better understanding the blending of the built, natural, and social environments. He has been an integral team player on residential projects focused on building community, civic and cultural projects that have gained national recognition, and college and university projects that promote dynamic education-actively engaged with the client and end-user throughout all phases of design and construction. He has been recognized for his volunteerism on an urban farm where he trained unemployed veterans and the chronically homeless for sustainable, green industry jobs. As a mentor, he has taught the principles of design and construction to students in Rochester and at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC, introducing architecture as a profession.
